The topic of our dinner meeting is "Risk Mitigation Tips for the Contractor and Design Professional".  This meeting will include discussion regarding the management of risks common to such concrete-focused projects including managing owner’s expectations, addressing repair and maintenance issues, managing labor and supply risks, climate change liability, delay and coordination issues, use of design assist and design delegations to shift risk,  performance and tolerance specifications, and the unique risks of repair and restoration projects.  Also, the topic will be addressed on issues of interest to ICRI members who act as expert witnesses.  Additionally, the meeting will discuss intellectual property, cyber security, and technology issues common to concrete projects and legal risks associated with advanced concrete materials and technologies.

Below are the two bios of our presenters:

Josh Leavitt: Mr. Leavitt has over 35 years of construction law experience and advises clients on a broad range of construction law matters, including disputes, contracts, climate change liability, and industry risk. He has worked with both domestic and foreign businesses across the full spectrum of industry participants, including owners, contractors, architects, engineers, suppliers, manufacturers, developers, and commercial landlords and tenants. Mr. Leavitt frequently lectures and writes on construction and design law topics, including delay and disruption claims, successful mediation and arbitration strategies, emerging delivery system choices, global infrastructure and P3 projects, liability for failure to adapt to climate change, and 3D printing and advanced manufacturing.

Mat Krenz: Mr. Kresz is a tech attorney, well versed in Cyber Security, Data Privacy, and Intellectual Property matters.  Notably, Mat’s practice is informed and enhanced by his background in engineering, and his former role as Chief Information Officer and business leader at a mid-size enterprise that served Fortune 500 companies.  Through the business and technology experience he gained in those roles, Mat is better enabled to help his clients reach their goals
